About

Madness Network News is dedicated to the interchange of energy and support of mad people and psychiatric survivors.

Our Mission

Madness Network News is dedicated to the interchange of energy and support of mad people and psychiatric survivors. Our work is rooted in psychiatric abolition and mad liberation movements, and we are committed to fighting against psychiatric oppression and violence everywhere. We celebrate mad identities and the freedom to explore our inner/altered states. Our work is rooted in intersectional struggles for liberation and the fight against systemic oppression.

Our History

Madness Network News (MNN) was founded in 1972 as a San Francisco Bay Area newsletter. Started by ex-inmates, it evolved into a quarterly anti-psychiatry journal with a global audience. MNN historically has been the voice and networking center for the Psychiatric Survivor and Mad movements in the United States, unapologetically advocating for the full human dignity, self-expression, and civil rights of psychiatric survivors and mad people.
